Frederic Goodwin -
Other Musical Activities
I continue to work as a musician in fields other than teaching.
  • Organ playing.  I am available as an organist for church services.    I am an experienced continuo player.
  • Conducting.    I currently train and conduct the Louth Chamber Choir, and conduct the small orchestra which accompanies it:  the Lincolnshire Chamber Players.   Each year in the summer I take a choir of selected singers - the 'Simeion Singers' - to a cathedral to sing an evensong;   singers who would like to be involved in this are welcome to contact me.   I am happy to consider any other work in this field, e.g. directing choral workshops.
  • Composing and Arranging.    Working as a church musician, I have composed a considerable amount of music for use within the liturgy.   Over the past few years I have accepted a number of commissions for new choral pieces, notably from the Louth Male Voice Choir and the National Association of Choirs (Lincolnshire Division).   I am active as an arranger, where music needs to be tailored to the forces available.
  • Accompanying.    I sometimes accompany singers/instrumentalists in examinations and recitals.
  • ABRSM Exams.    Together with my wife, Jennifer, I currently host the Associated Board's local examinations (Louth Centre).   We aim to provide a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere in which candidates can give of their best.
